September 30 – Kiernan Event

Hello everyone – hopefully the weather will push out today so we will be able to have our Favors event tomorrow that the Kiernan family has organized.  Check your email  for cancelation and a rescheduled date tomorrow morning.

If we are able to move ahead with the bulb planting please bring with you gloves, trowls, shovels – anything that could help planting the bulbs.

I am thinking positively and saying see you at the Norwell Public Library at 12:30 pm tomorrow.

Enjoy the rainy day!

September 30 – Kiernan Event

Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend and welcome FALL!  The Kiernan family has the bulbs to beautify the Norwell Public Library for next spring.  We will be planting bulbs around the library from 12:30-2 pm on Sunday September 30.  Please RSVP to the event at southshorefavors.org.

Special Thank You

Even though its arrival is late I want to extend a special thank you to the Murphy family for organizing the Favors event at Magical Moon.  A number of families showed up at the Magical Moon foundation ready for anything on that rainy Sunday.  Donna Greene – owner and founder – was ready to get us moving.  This by far was the most emotional and touching event we have been involved in thus far and I am so greatful to have been a part of it.  The Magical Moon foundation is an extrodinary place for children battling life threatening diseases.  We learned about the 24 kids that are currently involved with the program, their accomplishments and their drive to perservere.  Everyone was touched that attended – kids were asking when they can return and signing up to volunteer – truly a Magical place.   Thank you Donna for allowing us to volunteer.  I look forward to going back and helping out again.

Thank you also to the Campbell family for hosting the last Favors event for Habitat for Humanity in Norwell.  A number of families showed up at the Campbell home to prepare a picnic lunch and paint chairs to be delivered to the site during their lunch break.  Those who were able to attend were given a tour of the house and were able to meet our new neighbors, Melinda Kneeland and her daughter Alexis.  The food and the chairs were much appreciated and knowing that as a group we were able to help our neighbor felt good.

The Kiernan family is due to host the next event on September 30th, we will be planting bulbs for the beautification committee in Norwell.  Details to follow, hope everyone can come.  Remember to RSVP.

We also have had a request to help out at the Granite Academy in Braintree.  Our friend Norm Schmidt volunteers his time at the school for middle and high school aged students who have emotional issues that complicate their learning.  Norm created a peaceful garden for the students to escape to and it currently has some benches that need sanding and refinishing – a perfect job for our Favors crew.  This can either be an extra Favors event or one of our host families could take it on.  Let me know October hosts if you are interested…

Enjoy the pictures and look forward to seeing you all soon!  Happy Fall!

Welcome to Favors!

Hi all — This is Lauren’s friend Gretchen here from “Westchester Favors” – sorry to have suckered you all into this mess, but we down in New York are SO excited to have a SECOND CHAPTER of FaVoRS “up North”!  My kids are beside themselves that we started something and it has spread with the help of one of our very favorite families.  They can’t wait to visit and check out one of your events.  Anyway, I am thrilled that the concept has appealed to you all and that you have joined up with the Sears and think you can make this work in your neighborhood.  We have all had an amazing experience in doing this with our families — and I believe have learned new things about ourselves, our children, and about the needs in our community.  I hope you will all have as much fun as we have and get as much out of the experience.  ENJOY!!!!
